Update on ISO 28560-2 – 14 March 2018
An inconsistency has been reported
between ISO 28560-2 and the ISO/IEC 15961-2 register for Data Constructs and has
now being fixed in ISO 28560-2. The correction will appear in a revised edition
of the standard.
The issue was that the Root-OID in ISO
28560-2 was wrong, whereas it was correct in ISO/TS 28560-4. The correct
Root-OID is 1
0 15961
6. As a result Clauses
7.2.4 and 7.2.5 have been corrected.
Impact Assessment: Low to negligible.
The current software implementations of ISO 2856-2 do not use the full Object
Identifier structure,
because of the traditional interfaces to the LMS / ILS back-end system. Current
systems just
depend on the Relative-OID, which
is encoded in the RFID tag,
to distinguish between data elements.
The change needs to be made to ensure that future systems, different from the
present implementations, can use the full Object Identifier, as is already
possible with ISO/TS 28560-4.
During the process to correct this, a
publication error by ISO was discovered in ISO 28560-2:2014. Table C.3 is
missing, although it was in the original 2011 version, and correctly submitted
to ISO for publication. The table is reproduced below:
