RFID Emblem and RFID Index introduction
ISO/IEC 29160 Information technology — Radio frequency
identification for item management — RFID Emblem:
ISO/IEC 29160 specifies the design and use of the RFID Emblem: an easily identified
visual guide that indicates the presence of radio frequency identification
(RFID). It does not address the location of the RFID Emblem on a label.
Specific placement requirements are left to
application standards developers.
ISO/IEC 29160 also specifies an RFID Index, which can be included in the RFID
Emblem and which addresses the complication added by the wide range of RFID
tags in existence (frequency, protocol and data structure). The RFID Index is a
two-character code that provides specific information about tags and
interrogators. Successful reading of RFID tags requires knowledge of the
frequency, protocol and data structure information provided by the RFID Index.

ISO 28560-2 Information and documentation —
RFID in libraries — Part 2: Encoding of RFID data
elements based on rules from ISO/IEC 15962: Two-character code for the RFID Index
defined in ISO/IEC 29160 is H* for 13,56 MHz.
ISO 28560-3 Information and documentation — RFID in
libraries — Part 3: Fixed length encoding: Two-character code for the RFID Index
defined in ISO/IEC 29160 is H* for 13,56 MHz.
ISO/TS 28560-4 Information and documentation — RFID in
libraries — Part 4: Encoding of data elements based on rules from ISO/IEC 15962
in an RFID tag with partitioned memory: Two-character code for the RFID Index
defined in ISO/IEC 29160 is E* for UHF = 860 to 960 MHz.
